Cycle Enfield - Green Lanes section
Following our special review meeting of Sept 1st, FERAA is submitting a detailed letter of objection to this section of the Enfield scheme. It will be circulated and tendered by October 9th, the official end of the consultation. In the meanwhile we are working with other groups to make clear to Enfield Borough Council that trivial adjustments to this heavily flawed plan will be an unacceptable response.
David Burrowes MP has held two public meeting on Cycle Enfield (Green Lanes) both well attended, and the huge majority of residents and business interests are opposed to the scheme in its present form. FERAA is deeply concerned over safety issues and has made its opposition clear. The final meeting takes place 8pm this Monday, Sept 28th at the Revival Church, 47 London Rd, EN2 6DS.
We are told that Andrew Gilligan, the Mayor of London's cycle enforcer is attending. This will be an opportunity to hear the rationale behind the scheme direct, and debate its demerits. FERAA will be represented, but as many members as possible should attend to add weight to the community's concerns and objections.
We appreciate that the outcome of this part of the planning process will set the pace for the rest of Enfield. We want a win-win outcome - a cycle scheme that enhances transport standards in Enfield, and reject one that needlessly damages the interests and safety of the majority.
